The Harvest

Pt. Dave Kenney

John 4:27-42 (NIV)
*The Samaritans and Jews didn't get along well.
Jewish are people that have cast away from God, that's why the Samaritans didn't appreciate the Jewish.
*Jewish men don't talk to a Samaritan, and men don't talk to woman, especially the ones alone in the well at noon.

Principles of the Harvest

Purpose - what are we being called to do?
John 6 :31-34

Jesus already had disciples. - already has His crowd +/- 500 people. He wasn't going there, not trying to increase the size. It's about reaching out and reaching everybody.

Person
Jesus saw her and not her reputation.
He knows what had already been done. You don't have the right to judge which can/can't be saved. You can't seek only the one who is like you.

Priority
John 6 : 31-34
"to do the will of Him who sent me"

The harvest always comes first.
Jesus was not here for the discipling, but to do the Father's will : not letting anyone perish. Let people have their own relationship with God.

Plentiful
Don't mixed up God's timing is different than ours.
John 6:35
Luke 10:2 [NIV] - God is expressed to us, that the harvest is plentiful.

The harvest is limited only by the willingness of the harvesters / works.
If you're in a harvest, you can't take a vacation.

1 Cor 11:23-26 [NIV]
